FOCUS

Among other influences the Aikido practised at Tenshinkan is inspired by the teachings of Inaba Sensei, Head of the Shiseikan in Tokyo. Inaba Sensei is mainly known as exponent of kenjutsu, derived from the Kashima Shinryu school, but is also a very inspiring Aikido teacher. He explores deeply the foundations of Budo and this work has lead to a practice method that focus strongly at developing a clear sensation of Hara and Tanden. This is linked with the developing of a strong spirit and the ability to relax.

In this methodology Budo practice starts with building the proper body-spirit-tanden and from this state correct technique will develop.

In the daily practice at Tenshinkan we thus focus quite a bit on exercises developing tanden and flexibility. Exercises with partner focus a lot on contact, kokyuho and the ability to maintain your own mental and physical balance while braking the balance of your partners.

The spirit in the Tenshinkan Aikido Club is very good with a blending of sincerety of heart and effort and good-natureness of spirit.
